Indonesian blue amber from Sumatra is among the rarest forms of fossil resin on the planet. The blue phenomenon is caused by naturally occurring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the ancient resin, which fluoresce intensely under UV and in sunlight. This piece is completely untreated. It makes a spectacular display or collector specimen and is most dramatic when placed on a dark surface in natural outdoor light.
