Natural Jasper 61.5ct Oval Cabochon

A bold oval cabochon with a strong two-zone character: the left half is dominated by a vivid yellow-golden band against an olive-khaki background, while the right half is a smooth, quieter tan-khaki with a silky quality and almost no markings. A narrow dark grey seam runs vertically between the two zones, sharpening the division. The contrast between the active, coloured left and the calm, plain right gives this stone a clean graphic quality. The polish is good and the dome is evenly proportioned.

Yellow and olive-toned jasper from India is cut in large quantities for the cabochon trade. Jasper is an opaque microcrystalline quartz, hardness 7, untreated. The elongated format at 40x25.4mm works well in rectangular or oval bezel settings and long pendant drops.
