Natural Labradorite 91.1ct Teardrop Cabochon

An elongated teardrop cabochon with an unusually warm labradorescence character: the dominant display is a rich golden-amber that covers the main body of the stone and concentrates in the upper to mid section, with warm copper-bronze tones running along the length. A single, isolated circle of vivid blue-teal labradorescence appears near the lower tip, distinctly separated from the warm golden zone above it. This contrast between the warm golden body display and the isolated cool blue accent is the defining visual feature of this piece. Fine parallel planes run throughout the dark body, and the profile is flat with a well-polished surface.

Golden and amber labradorescence in Indian material occurs when the feldspar layer spacing produces interference in the gold-red wavelength range rather than the more common blue. The isolated blue spot reflects a localised zone of different layer thickness within the same crystal. The stone is entirely untreated, and at 54.7 x 27.1mm this elongated teardrop is well proportioned for a large pendant drop setting.
