Purple labradorite heart 14g 26mm

A dark charcoal-grey heart palmstone with a broad sweep of soft purple-violet labradorescence spreading across the upper half of the face, shifting toward blue at the lower left. The display has a calm, cool character, sitting in the blue-violet range with a gentle luminous shimmer. Small dark mineral inclusions are present across the surface, consistent with the natural character of Malagasy labradorite. The polish is smooth and even across the rounded form.

Madagascar produces labradorite feldspar with a strong tendency toward blue-purple schiller, and this compact 26mm palmstone is a good example of that cooler, violet-toned range. Labradorite is untreated; the optical phenomenon arises purely from the feldspar's internal lamellar structure. At 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, labradorite is best suited to collection display and decorative use rather than high-contact jewelry. Heart-shaped palmstones are a popular collectible form.
