Sodalite 15ct octagon cabochon

A near-square octagon cabochon with a medium-deep royal blue body showing soft, diffuse pale grey-blue cloudiness drifting in gentle patterns across the surface. The stone reads as more evenly colored than a heavily veined example, with tonal variation coming from diffuse zoning rather than bold calcite streaks. Smooth polished dome with mirror finish. A small natural dark inclusion is present on the left edge.

This piece shows a cleaner color distribution than the more mottled examples, with the grey-blue cloudiness appearing in soft waves rather than distinct white veining. Indian sodalite comes in a range of patterns from heavily calcite-veined to relatively clean, and this piece sits toward the less-veined end. At a hardness of 5.5 to 6, it is practical for pendants and earrings, and the near-square proportions suit both square and cushion bezel settings equally well.
