About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Rinse it in lukewarm water and scrub off any dirt with a soft brush, then let it dry. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: they can open natural fractures in the crystal.
Wear and storage
Sapphire crystals are hard and tough, so you can handle them freely. Keep them apart from softer stones, which they can scratch, and from diamond, which can scratch them.
