Five round-cut blue-green sapphires where one stone claims the spotlight: the second from left shows a deep, inky teal-blue with strong saturation, while the other four are lighter, more transparent mint-green and pale gray-green. The contrast between the one richer stone and its more delicate companions gives this lot a real visual focal point and makes it interesting as a mixed-tone set.
Madagascar origin, heat-treated as standard. The predominantly lighter, translucent quality of most stones in this batch suits fine jewelry work where a soft, ethereal teal accent is desired. The one deeper stone adds punch and could work as a subtle highlight within a larger design.
Natural blue-green sapphire, September birthstone - lot of 5, sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
