This 3.7mm round blue sapphire from Africa presents a deeply saturated, near-inky navy tone that dominates the stone from facet to facet. The dense, rich blue has an almost velvety quality, and the small bright facets that catch the light add a welcome sparkle against the stone's dark depths. Natural inclusions at SI clarity are part of this gem's authentic, earth-grown character.
African sapphires from this region are prized for their bold, highly saturated blues. Standard heat treatment has been applied to enhance the stone's color. At 0.27ct and 3.7mm, this dark and dramatic stone makes a striking accent in fine jewelry, particularly where a deep, moody blue is desired, and is a quality piece for any natural sapphire collection.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
