This 3.8mm round blue sapphire from Africa presents a very deep, intensely saturated navy tone that approaches near-extinction in the center, creating a dramatic, powerful darkness punctuated by vivid deep-blue flashes in the outer facets. The contrast between the dark body color and the bright highlights gives this stone a compelling, moody character that is hard to look away from. Natural inclusions at SI clarity add to its authentic, earth-grown quality.
African sapphires in this deep saturation range are prized for their bold, commanding presence in the gem trade. Heat treatment has been applied to enhance the stone's color, as is standard. At 0.34ct and 3.8mm, it is an excellent choice for statement jewelry where a deep, dramatic blue is the goal, or as an intense accent piece in fine jewelry design.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
