This 4.3mm round cabochon blue sapphire from Madagascar showcases a deep, steely teal-blue color presented through the smooth dome of its classic cabochon cut. The polished surface catches light with a beautiful reflective sheen, giving the stone a clean, glassy quality that faceted gems cannot replicate. The rich teal-navy color glows warmly through the dome, making this an elegant and distinctive gem with a timeless appeal.
Cabochon-cut sapphires offer a softer, more organic presentation of color compared to faceted stones, and this Madagascar specimen demonstrates that quality beautifully. Heat treatment has been applied to enhance the stone's deep teal-blue color. At 0.48ct and 4.3mm, this round cabochon is ideal for bezel-set rings, pendants, and earrings where the smooth dome adds a classic, refined touch to the jewelry design.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
