This 4.4mm round cabochon from Madagascar presents a deep, steely teal-blue color with a beautiful polished dome that catches light with a vivid reflective sheen. The smooth surface gives the stone an elegant, glossy quality, while the deep teal-navy body color glows warmly from within. Natural inclusions at SI clarity are enclosed inside the dome, adding to the authentic character of this earth-grown gem.
Cabochon sapphires have been treasured in jewelry for centuries for their smooth, organic presentation of color. This Madagascar specimen is heat treated to bring out its rich teal-blue color. At 0.48ct and 4.4mm, it is an ideal stone for bezel settings in rings, pendants, or earrings, pairing beautifully with gold in both modern and vintage-inspired designs.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
