This 4.5mm round-cut blue sapphire from Madagascar is completely untreated, with a pale icy blue color. The transparency is high, with the stone's brilliance and light return showcasing the natural silk needle inclusions that give it that unmistakably untreated character. The pale, delicate blue tone is cool, luminous, and wholly natural.
Untreated sapphires from Madagascar are increasingly rare and sought after by collectors and connoisseurs worldwide. This stone's natural color is the result of geological conditions alone, without any heat enhancement, giving it provenance value above and beyond its weight or size. At 0.49ct and 4.5mm, this pale-blue untreated round sapphire is a remarkable choice for an engagement ring, a special pendant, or a serious collector's gem that celebrates natural rarity.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
