This 5x4mm oval blue sapphire from Madagascar is a study in dramatic darkness, presenting a very deep, near-black navy tone that dominates the stone from edge to edge, with vivid deep-blue flashes breaking through when light hits the facets. The intense saturation gives this stone a moody, compelling character that makes a bold statement for its size. Natural inclusions at SI clarity are part of its authentic, earth-grown character.
For those who love their sapphires dark and intense, this Madagascar stone delivers exactly that. It has been heat treated to enhance its deep blue color. At 0.51ct and 5x4mm, this dark oval makes a striking center stone for a bold ring or pendant, and a dramatic, memorable addition to any fine jewelry design.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
