This 4.7mm round cabochon from Madagascar presents a medium teal-blue color through its smooth, polished dome, with a beautiful reflective surface that showcases the stone's natural color in a soft, organic way. The warm teal quality of the blue is inviting and distinctive, and the dome's mirror-like polish gives the stone a clean, glassy presentation that is characteristic of well-cut sapphire cabochons. Natural inclusions at SI clarity are enclosed within the dome as part of the stone's geological character.
Round cabochon sapphires are a classic jewelry choice that celebrates the natural color of the gem without the sparkle of faceting. This Madagascar specimen, heat treated to bring out its teal-blue color, has a warm and appealing quality that works beautifully in bezel settings. At 0.53ct and 4.7mm, it is a versatile and elegant choice for rings, pendants, or earrings in any metal color.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
