This Australian octagon-cut blue sapphire displays the deep, rich teal-blue color for which Australian sapphires are internationally recognized — a strongly saturated cool blue with a characteristic blue-green-gray undertone that immediately sets it apart from sapphires of other origins. The step-cut octagon faceting delivers clean, crisp planes that reflect the stone's dark color with commanding depth and quiet authority. An authentic Australian blue at an accessible price.
Australia is one of the world's most significant sapphire-producing nations, with stones from Queensland and New South Wales prized for their distinctive deep blue-teal-gray color signature. This stone is entirely untreated, preserving the rich natural character of Australian corundum without heat enhancement — a key attribute for collectors who value provenance and natural gem purity. At 0.57ct in a 5.3x3.7mm octagon, it is a well-proportioned accent stone for rings and pendants where Australian character is valued.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
