This 5.1x4.2mm oval blue sapphire from Australia is a beautifully transparent untreated stone with a distinctive pale steely-blue color that carries a cool, silvery quality typical of Australian sapphires. The well-cut oval facets deliver lively brilliance, and the stone's light, airy tone creates a fresh and elegant appearance quite unlike sapphires from other origins. Natural inclusions at SI clarity add authentic geological character to this earth-grown gem.
Australian sapphires have a distinctive character all their own, with naturally cooler, steelier blue tones that result from the continent's particular geological conditions. This stone is completely untreated, preserving its natural color in its most authentic form. At 0.62ct and 5.1x4.2mm, this pale blue untreated Australian oval is a beautiful choice for collectors, those seeking a natural ring stone, or jewelry designs that call for a lighter, more refined blue sapphire.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
