This 0.68ct heated oval sapphire displays a deep, dark navy blue that approaches near-extinction under low light, revealing its full intensity only when light catches the facets at the right angle. The hue is commanding and classic, with a velvety richness that embodies the timeless sapphire aesthetic in a compact, well-cut oval form.
Sourced from Madagascar, this sapphire has been heat treated to optimize its deep blue color, a standard and universally accepted process in the fine gemstone trade. This stone makes an excellent choice for bold jewelry pieces, engagement rings, and settings where a deep, statement blue is the design intent. Its intense color ensures a strong visual presence even in smaller settings.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
