This 0.72ct heated blue sapphire cabochon presents a smooth, domed surface in a dark steely blue, with fine silk needle inclusions visible beneath the polished surface that give the stone a soft, silky sheen. The dome catches light evenly across its circular form, lending the piece a quiet, understated elegance well suited to minimalist and vintage-inspired designs alike.
From Madagascar, this sapphire has been heat treated to enrich its color depth. Cabochon-cut sapphires carry a timeless appeal rooted in ancient gem traditions, lending themselves beautifully to bezel settings, statement rings, and pendants. The natural silk inclusions are a characteristic feature of sapphires and add organic charm and authenticity to the stone's appearance.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: cabochons usually contain fine inclusions or fissures that vibration and heat can open.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
