This untreated oval-cut green sapphire from Tanga, Tanzania presents an icy, near-colorless tone with the faintest ethereal green undertones and a generous 7x5.6mm face size. The stone's interior is filled with a delicate web of fine needle-like inclusions and feathers that create a soft, misty, organic quality, hallmarks of naturally unenhanced corundum formed deep in the earth over geological time.
Tanga is one of Tanzania's most celebrated sapphire localities, known for producing parti-colored, teal, and green sapphires of marked individuality. The inclusions in this stone are a testament to its entirely natural, unheated state and give it a character that no two specimens share. For collectors of natural, untreated gemstones, or designers seeking a stone with an organic, raw aesthetic quality, this pale green sapphire from Tanga offers a genuinely authentic gem experience at an accessible price point.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
