A small but characterful round sapphire presenting a deep teal color with a bold green-blue balance and glinting flashes of yellow-green across the facets. The hue is rich and saturated, leaning toward green with a cool blue undertone that gives the stone a moody, earthy quality. Fairly opaque at 3.5mm, this compact round holds its dark, velvety teal color with excellent density. SI clarity with natural inclusions that are fully consistent with teal sapphires of this type and size.
Heated to develop the teal saturation, the standard treatment for this color range of sapphire. Teal and greenish-blue sapphires have risen steadily in popularity among contemporary jewelers seeking an alternative to classic blue, offering a color that bridges green and blue in a single stone. The 3.5mm round format fits a wide range of standard settings, including bezel-set stacking rings, solitaire studs, pendant drops, and pavé accent rows in multi-stone pieces where a rich teal accent is desired.
Natural teal sapphire, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
