This delicate unheated Madagascar sapphire presents a very pale, nearly transparent body with a subtle greenish-blue to aqua tint that gives it a soft, ethereal quality. The oval face reveals beautiful light movement through the near-colorless body, with faint warm yellow-green zones adding a gentle parti character that is entirely natural and unenhanced. A few small natural inclusions are visible, consistent with the SI clarity grade. The stone belongs to the appealing family of barely-tinted sapphires that sit between colorless and lightly colored, prized for their clean transparency and subtle natural hue.
Madagascar's diverse corundum deposits yield sapphires across the full tonal range, including these delicately tinted near-colorless specimens that have a quiet, refined appeal. This stone is fully unheated and untreated, preserving its soft natural color entirely. At 5.4x4.4mm and 0.70ct the oval cut is a versatile and practical choice for rings, pendants, and earrings where a natural, untreated sapphire with a gentle, barely-there blue-green hue is required as an alternative to diamond or white sapphire.
Natural unheated sapphire, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
