A natural greenish-yellow beryl from Madagascar, 0.82ct in a cushion cut measuring 6.2x5.7mm. The stone shows a soft yellow-green with a slightly olive undertone, a muted, earthy take on the yellow beryl color range rather than a bright canary yellow. About heliodor
Heliodor is the yellow to greenish yellow variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted heliodor, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Heliodor is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This heliodor is untreated. Heliodor takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
