This charming 0.22ct untreated pink sapphire pear from Songea, Tanzania presents a vivid, saturated rose-pink color with VVS clarity and high transparency for an untreated stone of this color intensity. The color is a rich, deep pink with warm rose tones that are remarkably vibrant for such a petite gem, delivering striking color presence for its modest carat weight.
Songea, Tanzania is one of the world's most important sources for vivid pink sapphires, producing stones with notable intensity and saturation. This sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, making its rich natural pink entirely the product of the Songea deposits. VVS clarity combined with vivid untreated pink is an uncommon combination at this size, suiting a collector's piece or an accent stone in delicate fine jewelry.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
