This 0.31ct heated purple sapphire round from Africa presents a warm, medium mauve-purple color with soft pink undertones that give the stone a gentle, romantic quality full of natural charm. The color sits in the beautiful space between pink and violet, with good VS clarity allowing the natural purple character to express itself cleanly across the compact round face with bright, lively facet return.
Sourced from Africa, this purple sapphire has been heat treated to optimize its characteristic mauve-purple color. Purple sapphires are among the rarer and more distinctive members of the sapphire color family, appreciated for their warm-cool duality and their ability to complement a wide range of metal tones beautifully. A versatile and charming accent stone ideal for rings, earrings, and pendants where soft natural purple adds individuality and color.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
