This petite round-cut sapphire displays a delicate pale lavender-purple hue with silvery-lilac overtones, offering bright sparkle for its compact 4mm size. The stone is highly transparent with excellent light return, and its fine cut allows the soft violet color to dance with each movement, making it a refined gemstone with quiet elegance.
Sourced from Madagascar, a prolific source of fine sapphires in a wide spectrum of colors, this stone is entirely untreated, its natural pale purple color unaltered by heat or any other enhancement. Untreated sapphires are increasingly valued by collectors and jewelry designers for their authentic character. At 4mm, it is well-suited for accent settings in rings, stud earrings, or delicate pendants where its soft lavender color adds a subtle, sophisticated touch.
Natural purple sapphire, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
