This 0.70ct untreated purple sapphire oval from Madagascar presents a pale, airy pinkish-lavender color with a cool pastel undertone and fine natural inclusions and dark specks scattered through the body, adding natural texture to an otherwise gentle and luminous appearance. A striking bonus feature is the stone's strong orange-red fluorescence under 365nm UV light, an intense and vivid optical phenomenon that adds a remarkable extra dimension of character and intrigue.
From Madagascar, this purple sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, maintaining its natural pale lavender character in its original state. The UV fluorescence is a fascinating natural property inherent to this stone, indicative of its organic origin and a distinctive bonus for collectors and designers who enjoy gems with rare observable phenomena. A wonderful choice for those who appreciate gemstones that hold surprises beyond their daylight appearance.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
