This 0.32ct untreated VVS purple sapphire pear from Madagascar presents a petite teardrop silhouette in a dusty taupe-mauve color with soft purplish-gray undertones that give the stone a muted, earthy, and distinctly vintage quality. Despite the understated palette, the facets deliver clean, bright sparkle and the stone is notably free of visible inclusions — a remarkable combination of natural character and genuinely excellent clarity in a small, elegant form.
From Madagascar, this purple sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, carrying its natural dusty purple-gray color in its original state. VVS clarity in an untreated natural colored gemstone is an uncommon attribute that makes this petite stone a well-appointed specimen. The muted, earthy tone appeals to designers and collectors who seek natural color stones with quiet sophistication, beautiful in minimalist pendant and earring settings where understated elegance defines the design language.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
