This 0.46ct untreated purple sapphire pear from Tanzania presents a rounded teardrop silhouette in a deep, dark crimson-purple color with a saturated, wine-like depth and vivid reddish-violet flashes visible in bright directional light. Dark inclusion spots near the table lend the stone an earthy, unfiltered quality that is the authentic signature of a natural, untreated gemstone in a richly pigmented, intensely beautiful color.
From Tanzania, this purple sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, preserving its natural deep crimson-purple color in its original state. The saturated, wine-like tone is a particularly dramatic and distinctive palette within the purple sapphire family, prized for its depth and intensity. A richly colored natural stone for bezel settings in yellow or rose gold where the intense natural purple contrasts warmly and strikingly against the metal.
Natural untreated purple sapphire, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
