This 0.85ct untreated purplish-pink sapphire oval from Madagascar presents a naturally color-zoned appearance, with a deeper, more saturated purple at the center that transitions to a warmer pinkish-violet toward the rim. This natural color gradient gives the stone a multi-dimensional, living quality with genuine visual movement across the facets. Visible inclusions and dark patches add to the stone's authentic, organic character and its story of natural formation.
From Madagascar, this purplish-pink sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, with its naturally color-zoned purple-to-pink transition entirely original. Color zoning is a natural phenomenon found in many sapphires and is prized by collectors who appreciate authentic gemological character over uniformity. At 0.85ct in a wearable 6x5mm oval, this stone is an attractive centerpiece for ring and pendant designs where natural color variation creates a dynamic and distinctive focal point.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
