This 0.85ct untreated purplish-pink sapphire oval from Tanga, Tanzania presents a wider oval form in a medium mauve-violet color with a soft, naturally diffused tone. Heavy needle and silk inclusions run through the body, creating a hazy, atmospheric quality that gives the stone a gentle and organic appearance — the kind of natural texture and character that is the authentic hallmark of an unmanipulated gemstone with a rich geological history.
From Tanga, Tanzania, this purplish-pink sapphire is completely untreated and unheated, preserving its natural mauve-violet color and silky character in their original state. Silk inclusions are a natural phenomenon formed during crystal growth, valued by gemologists as evidence of natural origin. At 0.85ct in a 6.5x4.7mm oval, this stone is a generous, wearable choice for rustic and nature-inspired jewelry designs where visible natural character and warmly muted color are embraced as part of the design.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
