A large, earthy untreated yellow sapphire oval from Tanzania, presenting a dark olive-brown body with brownish-khaki undertones and warm golden flashes catching at the facet edges. The color is deeply terrestrial and organic, sitting at the intersection of earthy yellow and smoky brown in a tone that feels raw and unfiltered. Dense natural inclusions limit the transparency and contribute to the stone's heavily natural, unpolished character, giving it a strongly individual quality that sets it apart from conventionally faceted gems.
Completely untreated and unheated, from Tanzania, one of Africa's most important sapphire-producing countries. The stone is untreated, which preserves the full, unaltered color and inclusion landscape as it formed in the earth. This is a stone for collectors and designers who value raw, natural character over conventional clarity and saturation. Its large 8.5x6.7mm oval format gives it strong visual presence, and the earthy olive-brown tone pairs well with warm yellow gold, oxidized silver, and other organic, nature-inspired materials.
Natural untreated yellow sapphire, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
