A large 2.14ct oval sapphire from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) with a pale, near-colorless body and a cool, quiet tone punctuated by dramatic clusters of dark natural inclusions scattered boldly across the table. The transparency is good where the body is clear, but the prominent dark mineral inclusions give the stone a striking, one-of-a-kind geological character that transforms it into a genuine natural specimen as much as a gemstone. Under 365nm UV light, the stone displays strong orange fluorescence, glowing a deep amber-orange and adding a remarkable optical dimension to this already distinctive piece.
Completely untreated, sourced from the legendary Ceylon sapphire deposits of Sri Lanka. Ceylon has been producing fine sapphires for centuries and the name remains synonymous with quality and natural integrity in the sapphire trade. This stone is best appreciated by collectors, mineralogists, and jewelers seeking a characterful, natural stone with strong personality and unusual optical properties. Its large oval format at 8x6.5mm also makes it a strong candidate for a bold statement pendant or ring setting where an unconventional, nature-forward aesthetic is the goal.
Natural untreated yellow sapphire with orange fluorescence, September birthstone - sold loose.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is untreated. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
