A natural aquamarine from Brazil, 10.91ct, in a heart checkerboard cut measuring 14.9x13.8mm. The stone shows a clear, medium sky blue with a gentle teal warmth, a fresh, characterful color for aquamarine at this size. The checkerboard faceting across the heart face produces a grid of small square reflections that give the surface a lively, textured light play rather than a single focused return. Small scattered inclusions are present at SI clarity.
A nearly 15mm heart at over 10ct is a striking piece in hand, and the checkerboard faceting adds an extra dimension beyond a plain heart cut. The combination of shape and faceting makes it a natural candidate for a bezel-set pendant, a custom heart ring setting, or a standalone collector stone. Untreated, with natural color from a Brazilian deposit.

About aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted aquamarine, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Aquamarine is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This aquamarine is untreated. Aquamarine takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
