A natural goshenite (white beryl) from Brazil, 1.66ct, in a pear cut measuring 13x6.5mm. Goshenite is the colorless variety of beryl, the same mineral family as aquamarine and emerald, and this stone is fully transparent and genuinely colorless, with no blue or green tint. The VS clarity means very clean material with just a couple of minor inclusions, and the stone shows strong brilliance across the elongated pear form.
The slender 13x6.5mm pear is an elegant shape suited to drop earrings, pendant caps, or east-west ring settings where a clean, colorless natural stone is wanted. About goshenite
Goshenite is the colorless variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted goshenite, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Goshenite is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This goshenite is untreated. Goshenite takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
