A natural aquamarine from Brazil, 19.67ct, in an oval cut measuring 21.1x19.5mm. This near-round oval shows a medium blue with a green-teal modifier, a natural, unheated aqua with good depth of color for material at this clarity level. Natural inclusions are distributed throughout the body, consistent with SI clarity in a large, untreated stone of this weight.

About aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted aquamarine, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Aquamarine is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This aquamarine is untreated. Aquamarine takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
