This lot of three tiger's eye round cabochons from India offers a pairing of two warm golden-brown pieces and one blue hawk's eye specimen. The two golden cabochons display the species' signature chatoyancy in full effect, with undulating silky bands of amber and rich honey-gold flowing smoothly across the polished domed surfaces. The third cabochon is a blue hawk's eye with a cool, metallic blue-grey shimmer that contrasts sharply with the golden pair. All three are fully polished and evenly round at 15 to 16mm.
Tiger's eye is a pseudomorphic variety of quartz that forms through the silicification of blue crocidolite fibers, preserving their parallel structure. These cabochons are sourced from India and are entirely natural and untreated. Their size and strong chatoyancy suit accent pendants, large rings, bolo ties and collector display, and the mix of golden and blue varieties offers design flexibility in a single purchase.
Natural tiger's eye, sold as a lot of 3.

About tiger’s eye
Tiger’s eye is quartz with a fibrous structure that gives it a moving band of light. At 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale it is tough and durable.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Tiger’s eye is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
These stones are untreated. Tiger’s eye should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath.
