This mixed lot of three tiger's eye round cabochons features two golden-brown pieces and one blue hawk's eye, each displaying strong, flowing chatoyancy across their well-polished high-dome surfaces. The golden cabochons show deep amber and warm honey tones, with sharp silky bands of light that shift markedly as the stones are moved. The blue hawk's eye offers a complementary cool blue-grey metallic shimmer, completing the trio. The three stones range from 14.4 to 16.7mm in diameter, giving the lot a slightly varied size range.
Tiger's eye is produced when silica replaces the fibrous mineral crocidolite, preserving the parallel microstructure that creates the cat's eye effect. These cabochons are sourced from India and are completely natural and untreated, with no color enhancement of any kind. Their size makes them good candidates for large pendants, statement rings and custom designs that highlight the natural banding and optical character of chatoyant stones.
Natural tiger's eye, sold as a lot of 3.

About tiger’s eye
Tiger’s eye is quartz with a fibrous structure that gives it a moving band of light. At 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale it is tough and durable.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Tiger’s eye is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
These stones are untreated. Tiger’s eye should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath.
