Five delicate natural blue apatite pear cuts in a lovely aqua-teal blue, each stone a petite teardrop shape with a faceted brilliant finish. The color is vivid and clean, with the characteristic neon blue-green hue that African apatite produces, and each piece has good transparency with fine silky needle inclusions running through the interior. The tapered pear silhouette makes them elegant accent gems, and the five pieces form a harmonious set with natural minor variations in color depth from one stone to the next.
Sourced from Africa and completely untreated, these pear-cut blue apatites are ready for setting in earrings, pendants, or multi-stone designs where the teardrop outline can be used to decorative effect. Pear cuts in this small size are particularly versatile as drop earrings or as side stones around a larger center stone. The aqua-teal color of African blue apatite is a natural, unenhanced hue that needs no treatment to achieve its brightness. Sold as a set of five.
Natural blue apatite, set of 5 pear cuts, sold loose.

About apatite
Apatite is a calcium phosphate. At 5 on the Mohs scale it is soft for a gemstone and sensitive to acids, heat and knocks, so it is best for pendants, earrings or a collection.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can crack it. Keep it away from acids, including lemon juice and vinegar, and household cleaners.
Wear and storage
With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, and a knock can chip it. Wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.
For your jeweler
These stones are untreated. Apatite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. A bezel or another protective setting suits it best.
