A natural aquamarine from Africa, 10.05ct, in a cushion checkerboard cut measuring 14.7x12.5mm. The stone shows a pale sage-green tone, distinctly green rather than blue, with visible warm mineral inclusions including rust-orange patches spread through the body. The checkerboard faceting across the cushion face creates a grid of small square reflections that diffuse light broadly and evenly.
Green-toned aquamarine is the stone in its most natural, unheated state, the green color is inherent to the beryl crystal and is not a flaw or a treatment artifact. From an African deposit, this stone carries the textural, mineral character typical of untreated rough-origin material. The cushion checkerboard cut maximizes the face area for the carat weight.

About aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green variety of beryl. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale with only poor cleavage, it is a good stone for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted aquamarine, but skip steam: sudden temperature changes can crack it.
Wear and storage
Aquamarine is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.

This aquamarine is untreated. Aquamarine takes normal setting well, but keep it out of direct torch flame: sudden heat can crack it or change its color.
