Natural Chrysoberyl Cat's Eye 0.88ct Oval Cabochon

A grey oval chrysoberyl cat's eye cabochon from Sri Lanka, 0.88ct at 5.5x4.5mm. The stone shows a soft pale grey body colour with a well-defined chatoyant band running across the polished dome under directional light. The cat's eye band is clean and well-centred, giving good visual movement as the stone is rotated.

Sri Lankan chrysoberyl cat's eye is one of the classic chatoyant gemstones. The phenomenon results from dense parallel needle inclusions within the chrysoberyl mineral.
