Natural Green Cat's Eye Augite 1.42ct 7x6mm Oval Cabochon

A 1.42ct oval cabochon of natural cat's eye augite from Sri Lanka, measuring 7x6mm. The stone has a deep, dark olive-green body colour with a polished dome. Under incandescent light a sharp, well-defined cat's eye band cuts brightly across the surface - a clean white line of reflected light that moves as the stone is tilted. The cat's eye effect is strong and clearly visible in the product photos.

Augite is a pyroxene species, and the cat's eye variety from Sri Lanka is rarely encountered in cut form. This is a collector-grade chatoyant stone - a species most buyers will not have seen before in cabochon form. Untreated, no heat or enhancement. Suited to a bezel pendant or ring setting where the cat's eye phenomenon can move freely in light.
