This 0.46ct heated greenish-blue sapphire round from Africa presents a striking natural color zoning with golden-amber tones merging into cool grey-teal across the facets, creating a compelling earthy interplay of warm and cool that gives the stone an almost painterly quality. The strong zoning pattern is a genuine natural formation feature that makes this stone entirely distinctive, offering a rich narrative of the stone's geological origin.
From Africa, this greenish-blue sapphire has been heat treated, with the natural color zoning preserved as a characteristic feature of its origin. Heavily zoned sapphires like this one offer an expressive aesthetic, appreciated by designers and collectors who look beyond conventional color consistency to the individual story each natural gem tells. Well suited for artisan settings, organic jewelry designs, and those who collect natural character stones.

About sapphire
Sapphire is corundum in every color except red. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond, and it is also very tough with no cleavage, so it rarely chips or splits when knocked. Together that makes it one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, rings included.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually fine for a faceted sapphire, but skip them if the stone has fissures that reach the surface.
Wear and storage
Sapphire is very hard, so it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Only diamond can scratch it, so keep it apart from diamonds and store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
For your jeweler
This sapphire is heated, and the color from heating is stable. Sapphire handles normal setting, re-tipping and polishing well. If the stone has fissures that reach the surface, keep it out of direct torch flame and acid pickle.
