A striking natural red apatite rough crystal from Pakistan with a deep, rich wine-red color and a semi-transparent body showing natural crystal cleavage planes. The color is a warm, saturated burgundy-red with purplish undertones, and the natural form of the crystal shows character typical of apatite specimens from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. This specimen is fluorescent, glowing a vivid yellow under 310nm ultraviolet light, which provides an exciting second dimension for display or demonstration. At 8.4g it is a good medium-sized piece with a nice hand feel.
From Pakistan and entirely untreated, this fluorescent red apatite is a genuinely distinctive mineral specimen. Most apatite available in the gem and mineral market comes in green or blue varieties, making red specimens particularly noteworthy for collectors seeking complete apatite color suites. The UV fluorescence adds collector value and makes it a great conversation piece. Suitable for display in a mineral collection, as a UV mineral showpiece, or as rough material for cutting or carving.
