This set opens with a pale, silvery blue-lavender stone on the left, moves to a noticeably richer and more saturated blue-violet at center with lively flashes across the facets, and closes with a lighter stone on the right that carries a small natural inclusion visible near its girdle. Seen together, the three demonstrate the tonal range tanzanite is known for, even within a single small parcel.
All three stones were mined in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, the only known source of tanzanite worldwide, and carry the standard heat treatment used to bring out the gem's characteristic blue-violet hues. About tanzanite
Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. At 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, with perfect cleavage and fair toughness, it is softer and more fragile than sapphire, so it needs gentle handling.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.

These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Tanzanite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
