A softer, cooler-toned trio, these three round tanzanites lean toward pale steel-blue rather than deep violet. The two outer stones sit close in tone, a light silvery blue with a gentle violet whisper, while the center stone reads slightly richer and cleaner, with strong brilliance across its crown and very little to interrupt the eye.
This set was mined at the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, the sole global source of tanzanite, and has undergone the standard heat treatment used to bring out and stabilize the gem's blue-violet color range. Their pale, cool tone suits white metal settings particularly well, and the matched sizing makes them a good choice for a small three-stone ring or a coordinating earring and pendant set.

About tanzanite
Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. At 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, with perfect cleavage and fair toughness, it is softer and more fragile than sapphire, so it needs gentle handling.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.

These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Tanzanite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
