This set of four round tanzanites shows a lively spread of tone, from a violet-leaning stone on the left through two bright, clean mid-tone blue-violets, to a paler, silvery lavender on the right. Fine natural inclusions are visible here and there, consistent with SI clarity, without dulling the overall brilliance of the group.
These stones were mined at the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, the only place in the world tanzanite is found, and have received the standard heat treatment used across the trade to develop their blue-violet color. A versatile little set for stud earrings, a cluster ring, or mixed into other small accent stones.

About tanzanite
Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. At 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, with perfect cleavage and fair toughness, it is softer and more fragile than sapphire, so it needs gentle handling.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners: vibration and sudden temperature changes can start a crack along its cleavage.
Wear and storage
Take it off for sport, gardening or heavy work: a sharp knock can split it. With a hardness below 7 it can be scratched even by quartz, which is found in household dust, so wipe it gently and store it on its own in a soft pouch. It suits pendants and earrings better than an everyday ring.
For your jeweler
These stones are heated, and the color from heating is stable. Tanzanite should be kept away from the torch flame, acid pickle and the ultrasonic bath. Ask for gentle pressure when setting, since a hard push can split it.
