Natural Dendritic Agate 128.5ct 56mm Oval Cabochon

The defining feature of this large oval cabochon is its striking two-tone composition: a wide central field of soft powder-blue chalcedony occupies most of the face, ringed by a milky white border through which the black dendritic inclusions are distributed. The dendrites appear mainly around the perimeter - some in scattered dot clusters, others forming fuller fern-like sprays, particularly on the left side. The overall effect is of a pale blue pool framed in a white border marked with natural botanical-like formations. The stone has a gentle, atmospheric quality, the blue-grey center reading as almost translucent-looking against the more opaque white surround.

From Brazil, where dendritic agate is found in a range of base tones from pure white to creamy or, as here, soft chalcedony blue. The dendrites are natural manganese oxide growths formed during crystallisation - untreated and unenhanced. This is a large-format cab at over 128ct and 56mm, well suited to a focal pendant, framed wall piece, or collector display where its scale and the interplay of the blue center and white border can be seen properly.
