Lot Small Natural Grape Agate Crystals 38g

This lot of small grape agate clusters presents clearly defined botryoidal forms - each piece shows the characteristic multi-sphere grape-bunch morphology in medium lavender-purple. The pieces are consistently shaped, typically presenting as clusters of three to six tightly packed spheres with the smooth, rounded surfaces typical of well-formed botryoidal agate. Some pieces show a slightly golden matrix material at the base where they grew on host rock. A few pieces have a more grey-blue-purple tone, and two distinctly darker, blue-grey teal-tinted clusters stand out among the predominantly lavender material. The botryoidal structure is well developed and easy to appreciate on each piece.

From Sulawesi, Indonesia, grape agate forms in pockets within volcanic basalt where mineral-rich water deposits successive layers of chalcedony in rounded, bubble-like formations. Untreated and natural. At 13-20mm, the individual cluster pieces in this lot are well-sized for small specimen displays, crystal collections, or as accent material in jewellery design. Agate is rated 7 on the Mohs scale.
