Longer and narrower than a standard oval at 11.6x8.7mm, this citrine divides visually into two halves: honey amber and bright above, with a deeper olive-brown zone occupying the lower third where the pavilion runs deepest. A pale frosted hexagonal panel sits on the upper left shoulder. The concave rays are very fine, almost combed in the way they fan out from the central hexagon, and they cross both color zones without breaking. Transparent, VS clarity.
The elongated outline is worth noting: narrow ovals sit well in drop earrings and lengthen the line of a finger in a ring. This is untreated Brazilian material, and the two-tone effect comes from the depth of the cut rather than color zoning in the rough. A November birthday is the obvious occasion for citrine.

About citrine
Citrine is the yellow to golden orange variety of quartz. At 7 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a durable stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted citrine, but skip steam: sudden heat can crack quartz or change its color.
Wear and storage
Citrine is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
