A broad, generous face on this oval, 12.4x10mm, which gives the concave starburst room to open out. The color is a bright golden yellow, cleaner and less brown than deep amber citrine, and the lower half of the stone lights up in strong yellow-gold rays while the upper left holds a large pale frosted panel where a curved facet meets the light flat on. That contrast between the quiet panel and the bright burst below is what gives the stone its character. VS clarity, transparent and open.
Bright golden yellow is the color most buyers picture when they think of citrine, and Brazil produces it in exactly this tone with no enhancement needed. About citrine
Citrine is the yellow to golden orange variety of quartz. At 7 on the Mohs scale with no cleavage, it is a durable stone for everyday wear.
Cleaning
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush are all you need. Brush behind the stone too, where dust and skin oils collect, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. An ultrasonic cleaner is usually fine for a clean faceted citrine, but skip steam: sudden heat can crack quartz or change its color.
Wear and storage
Citrine is hard enough for everyday wear, and it can scratch softer gemstones stored with it. Harder stones such as topaz, sapphire, ruby and diamond can scratch it, so store it on its own in a gem jar or a soft pouch.
